A Little About Me
I am Ritwik Hazra, a Research Scholar at Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. I have completed M. Sc. in Chemistry from Indian Institute Technology Kanpur on June 2020. I have completed B. Sc. in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math, Howrah. I love to explore and research on the processes and scientific mechanisms underlying the world we live in. I have received prestigious Prime Minister Research Fellowship for my research work.
Broad Area of Research
Our research interest is based on self assembly of biologically important molecules using time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) and other
microscopic techniques (TEM, SEM, Confocal). These kind of self assembly includes aggregates of important biomolecules, vesicles, coacervates. The aggregates have the potential to act as drug delivery agents. So the study of photophysical properties of fluorescent probe as well as drug molecules incorporated aggregates of biomolecules is highly important. Another kind of important self assembly is vesicles system composed of several kind of phospholipids and fatty acids (amphiphilic molecules). This kind of system has potential to mimic the biological cell membrane and provide us the opportunity to study the effects of external stimuli on these model membrane. The vesicles can be used as a model template to perform experimental demonstrations of several interesting processes that will supposed to unveil important process related to “Origin of Life” research.
